Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS FT is looking to appoint trainee Clinical Coders to help us capture the clinical activity we undertake at the hospital. This will support a variety of processes within the Trust and underpins the income of the Trust. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential. The role requires long periods of VDU use
This is a full-time position (37.5 hours) based at Clatterbridge Hospital, with opportunity for hybrid working and flexibility with working times to support our employees with a healthy work/life balance.
Training takes around two years and consistsof a Clinical Coding Standards Course, speciality workshops and courses and a period of supervised coding.

- Abstract and analyse clinical information from a wide variety of sources both paper and electronic formats.
- Assign diagnostic and procedural codes to episodes of care in a timely and accurate manner.
- Input codes into encoding software ensuring accuracy at all times.
- Convey complex coding rules to a wide variety of staff within the organisation e.g. clinicians, managers and information staff and with staff outside the Trust.
- Identify and retrieve missing information in order to achieve departmental and Trust targets on completeness of coding.
