Early Years Practitioner

We are seeking to appoint a qualified level 3 or equivalent Early Years Practitioner t o work with children in the 2-year-old class, assessment unit and main nursery as part of the staff team to ensure the efficient running of the nursery school. To actively participate and work as part of the maintained nursery school team, as a Key Worker in providing education through creative planning and exciting learning opportunities for children aged 2-4 years, their families and carers. To be responsible for the development of a group of children and their learning environment, to include planning, record keeping and assessment.37 hours per week, term time only plus 5 INSETSLevel 5 £26,766 - £31,531.87 (actual), permanent contract

Main Duties

• To support the teacher in effectively delivering the provision of Early Years education and care.• Versatile practitioner to support learning and care across all classrooms (ages 2-4).• To promote the health, safety and welfare of the children in the nursery at all times and to be a key worker for a number of identified children.• To support children’s learning as directed, in the context of fostering individualism • To demonstrate inclusive practice at all times. • Create a learning environment which meets the needs of individuals, led by observations and scaffolding of learning to ensure that appropriate support is in place for children.• To interact appropriately with the children at all times, in all environments. • To model positive social interaction and play, and to provide exciting learning experiences. • To participate in team meetings and relevant whole school staff meetings. • To contribute to preparation of paperwork for EHCPs• To use initiative to ensure the smooth running of the activities taking place. • To work in co-operation with other staff in the planning & preparation of activities & programs of work for groups & individual children, in order to give a broad & balanced curriculum.• To share responsibility for children working inside or outside.• To observe, monitor & assess individual children. To contribute to records on children, & be prepared to share those records with parents & carers.• To act as key worker for individual children & families.• To establish, develop & maintain good relationships with parents & carers, & to maintain confidentiality at all times• To encourage & facilitate learning, by providing appropriate levels of support & interaction.• To share responsibility for the presentation of children’s work & to help create & maintain an attractive & stimulating environment.• To take responsibility as required, for any activity under direction of the Headteacher e.g. home visits, parent groups• Implement individual education programs for children with Special Educational Needs ensuring their full integration into the nursery• To pay due care & attention to matters of Health & Safety, First Aid & Emergency procedures, as laid down by school policy documents & guidelines.• Working as part of the team to implement behaviour management strategies in line with the policy of the setting• To administer First Aid at an appropriate level & according to school guidelines, & to be responsible for reporting details of accidents to parents and carers as required by school guidelines.• Assist with the implementation of individual education plans.• To administer first aid at an appropriate level and according to school guidelines and to be responsible for reporting details of accidents to parents and carers as required by school guidelines. • To report any cause for concern regarding a child’s health or welfare to the designated senior member of staff responsible for Child Protection/Safeguarding Children.• To have the opportunity to attend relevant courses & keep informed of current childcare legislation & guidelines. • Monitor and evaluate pupil responses to learning activities through observation, assessment and monitoring strategies.• To participate in the reviews of the school policies & aims & the School Improvement Plan.• To follow the school’s guidelines & procedures.• To assist in the maintenance of resources & equipment.• To undertake any jobs as directed by the Headteacher or SENCO• To plan and promote the importance of outside play and learning whatever the weather
