About this role
Medicine for the Elderly is a large tri-site specialty, comprising: Inpatient beds on all sites for frail, complex older patients requiring hospital care A rehabilitation unit at the CXH siteAcute Frailty teams on both acute sites providing comprehensive geriatric assessment to all complex older patients admitted on the acute medical take Dedicated Surgical liaison service orthopaedics, vascular and GI surgery Dedicated Cardiology and Renal liaison services Community input to local care homes, Primary Care Network Frailty hubs, Virtual Wards and the Community Independence Service (CIS), an integrated health and social care provision to support older patients in the community All services and care are based on the Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment and effective multidisciplinary working. They are aligned with the evidence base and national guidelines. The Department of Elderly Medicine at St Marys Hospital is currently staffed by 4
