Who we are
The Grace Eyre Foundation is a charity based in Brighton & Hove and the wider Sussex community that has been working with people with a Learning Disability and autistic people since 1898. Our mission is to work towards being led by people with Learning Disabilities and autistic people to deliver high-quality housing, support and activities in their local communities. The people we support tell us that they want “good support from kind and friendly people” – so that is what we are looking for
Introduction to the role
We’re excited to share an opportunity to join the team at a supported living service in the Brighton and Hove area for a minimum of six months while a member of staff is on maternity leave, working 30 hours per week.
What the Role Involves
As a Support Worker, you’ll play a key role in helping people live the life they choose. The work is varied, meaningful, and rooted in building trusting, supportive relationships
Your responsibilities will include
Supporting individuals to maintain their independence and develop daily living skills
Administering medication safely and accurately
Helping people attend medical appointments, benefits meetings, and understand important correspondence
Providing practical support such as maintaining a clean home, shopping, and meal preparation
Offering emotional support, including occasional involvement in crisis management
Working as part of a 24-hour service with a 6-week rolling rota, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and sleep-in shifts
The main focus is to enable individuals to learn life skills and to gain life experiences which will have a massive impact on their lives and everyone around them. An individual who lives at the service would like support workers to be kind when working with her. Also, wants the support workers/team leader to have a good sense of humour and to support in participating in different activities in the Brighton area.
