Maternity Fail Safe Officer

About this role

Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure eligible service users are offered timely vaccinations in line with national guidance. 2 Maintain oversight of vaccination appointments. To ensure all vaccination clinic sessions are being utilised efficiently and effectively. Reduce loss of capacity by cancelling/rearranging appointments when necessary, ensuring all patients are seen with the recommended timeframes. Ordering of and ensuring adequate stock levels of vaccines available. Liaising with pharmacy. Complete GP reporting for administered vaccines and monthly returns for vaccinations given in a timely manner. Responsible for checking the quality of data entered onto the maternity systems and filing systems, to ensure that all national standards are maintained and reportable. Responsible for organising plans to ensure that all vaccinations are offered in line with NHSE guidance. Support the Maternity Vaccination Nurse/Midwife in maintaining reportable databases and the development of vaccination data analysis. Ensure all patients who attend and access maternity vaccination services are captured within the relevant EPR systems (Badgernet) and national/local databases as appropriate. With patients information, appointments and vaccinations offered/declined and administered accurately recorded. To implement and carry out failsafe checks for the vaccination programmes under the supervision of the Maternity Vaccination Nurse/Midwife, ANC Manager and Antenatal Screening Coordinator. To liaise and correspond with the appropriate external service providers as well as GPs as appropriate To be responsible for answering telephone enquiries and referring to other members of the Department as appropriate and when required contact and refer to other trusts / external providers. To provide detailed analysis to the Antenatal Matron and Antenatal Screening Fail Safe Officerfor the quarterly ANNB Screening KPIs and annual reporting. Attend MDT meetings with the ANC Manager and Maternity vaccination nurse/midwife regarding patients care and any external regional / national update meetings. To liaise closely with the Maternity VaccinationNurse/Midwife, ANC Manager, community team leaders to ensure smooth running of the vaccination clinics. To contribute to the development and completion of outpatient surveys, in support of the vaccination service. To act as the main point of contact in relation to the maternity vaccination programmes in the absence of the Maternity Vaccination Nurse or ANC Manager. To assist in the investigation of complaints or serious incidents relating to the maternity vaccination service. To develop and maintain an active database for the National Antenatal and Newborn (ANNB) screening programmes including Newborn Bloodspot (NBBS), Newborn and Infant Physical Examination (NIPE), Infectious diseases in pregnancy, Haemoglobinopathies and Fetal Anomaly. Responsible for checking the quality of data entered onto the failsafe systems and filing systems, to ensure that all national standards are maintained and reportable. Responsible for organising plans to ensure that all investigations in relation to National Screening programmes are accounted for. Support the ANNB screening coordinators, and Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (ANNP) in maintaining reportable databases and the development of data analysis. To access the ANNB Fail-Safe (Northgate systems), to ensure that compliance with examination of the newborn (NIPE), newborn bloodspot (NBBS), newborn hearing screening is maintained and abnormal results are appropriately actioned. Ensure all patients who attend and access maternity antenatal screening services are captured within the above databases. With patients information, examinations, results and appointments accurately recorded. To coordinate close interaction by the ANNB Screening Coordinators, ward, clinic and community midwives, paediatricians and Newborn Hearing Screening Team to ensure failsafe systems remain robust and ANNB services run smoothly. To assess the need to contact individual patients and coordinate completion of any outstanding ANNB screening services which may breach the failsafe requirements To liaise and correspond with the appropriate external service providers as well as GPs Referrers and patients regarding appointments, results and follow up care To be responsible for answering telephone enquiries and referring to other members of the Department as appropriate and when required contact and refer to other trusts / external providers. To respond expediently to abnormal results following investigative treatments, highlighting them in person to the ANNB Screening Coordinators to avoid delay. To provide detailed analysis to the ANNB Screening Coordinators for the quarterly KPIs and annual reporting as well as provide daily analysis of impended breaches on Failsafe Systems and to action these appropriately to meet service specifications. To assist the ANNB Screening Coordinators to meet the national targets as defined by the NHS screening programme publication and alert the Screening Coordinators of impending breeches with identified remedial actions required. Attend MDT meetings with the ANNB Screening Coordinators regarding patients care and any external regional / national update meetings. Support fetal medicine consultants to ensure identified congenital anomalies referral forms are sent and received to the regional centre for congenital anomalies. To present data analysis at various meetings as required such as audit or clinical reviews using a variety of resources such as PowerPoint. To contribute to the development and completion of outpatient surveys, in support of the ANNB screening coordinators. To aid in the investigation of ANNB screening incidents. To act as the main point of contact in relation to issues / updates for the Northgate for NBBS and NIPE systems. Check monthly that all babies had their check within 72 hours and report and issues to NIPE lead. To liaise with NIPE lead, screening team and hip screening team.
