Who are we looking for?
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Transactional Services Team within the Finance department at Wealden District Council. This is a varied and important role where you'll play a key part in supporting the smooth running of our financial operations.
What will the role involve?
In this role, you will
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and efficiently
- Support credit control activities, including proactive debt collection
- Carry out banking and income allocation tasks
- Act as the first point of contact for customer queries, resolving them professionally and effectively
- Communicate regularly with customers via phone and written correspondence
What skills, knowledge and abilities do you require for the role?
We are looking for someone who is
- Able to prioritise and manage a busy workload effectively
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- A confident communicator with a professional telephone manner
- Proactive and resilient, particularly when managing outstanding debts
- Accurate and detail-focused when processing financial transactions
You will also have
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C or equivalent)
- Strong ICT skills
- Experience using computerised financial systems
- Previous experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or a similar finance role (desirable but valuable)
