PURPOSE OF THE JOB
As Packing Lead you are responsible for the packing area of Felix’s Kitchen and the correct packing, storing and distribution of
all meals and components.
You also assist the senior Chefs in the smooth running of the kitchen. Being the point of contact between the kitchen team and the
packing team.
You are responsible for maintaining the quality and standards of the packing area and ensuring all meals and/or components of
meals are packed and handled as agreed with the Senior Chef/Line Manager. You ensure that all HACCP procedures are followed. To
take the lead with our volunteers, ensuring they work efficiently and safely. You assist other staff and volunteers when they need
help to ensure the smooth running of the operation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Responsible for the smooth running of the packing area of Felix’s Kitchen
* Ensure that the operation hits its agreed targets of production
* Responsible for the quality control of the cooked and packed meals and that all correct HACCP procedures are followed and
promptly recorded, both on paper and digitally when required.
* Responsible for the correct implementation of the latest labelling procedures and requirements
* Supporting in completing opening and closing checks, pests checks on Alert65
* Lead on volunteer training and supervision
* Assist with all goods coming into the kitchen and the correct storage and recording of these, HACCP and cleaning standards and
records
* Act as a local ambassador for The Felix Project
* Responsible for food hygiene practices
Your normal duties and responsibilities will be set out in your job description. However, the charity may require you to perform
other duties from time to time.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
You are a people’s person with good leadership skills and the ability to work with others. A big personality, keen on engaging
with staff, volunteers and all members of the operation. You have a passion to be part of a charity that is expanding rapidly and
you thrive is a busy environment. You will have a desire to help reduce food waste and/or fight food poverty.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
* Previous experience of working in a fast-paced food environment
* Knowledge and experience with implementing HACCP procedures
* Ability to work within a team of varied individuals with a positive attitude
* Good organizational skills and attention to detail
* Good PC skills
* Willingness to engage in physical work as part of your daily job
* Very strong work ethic and ability to produce high-quality food at high volume
