Neurodevelopmental Specialist Nurse

1. Contribute to multi-professional assessments of neurodevelopmental conditions, with a specific focus on ASD, in children and young people referred to the Child Development Service. Utilising up to date and evidence based assessment techniques and tools, assessing information from education providers and parents/carers alongside observation of the young person. This may include specialist assessments in clinic, and observations in educational settings. 2. Provide specialist nursing practice across professional boundaries and develop and streamline patient care pathways between nursing, AHPs, GPs and paediatricians. Liaising closely with other services in order to provide a co-ordinated and seamless service for patients. 3. Supporting the ongoing development of care pathways for ASD and other conditions by reviewing current caseload, referral, assessment and review criteria to assist in developing a service that provides efficient and effective pathways. Discuss and agree assessment outcomes with patients, carers and other health care professionals, promoting health education and self-management.
