A Leading Construction Business seeks a Site Manager to oversee a new build Aldi project in Hoxton. This role demands hands-on site management and effective coordination of construction activities to ensure timely and quality delivery within budget and to regulatory standards.
Job Duties
- Manage day-to-day site operations, ensuring all activities comply with health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel to maintain project schedules and quality standards.
- Monitor progress against the project programme and proactively address any delays or issues.
- Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to maintain a safe working environment.
- Ensure effective communication between the client, design team, and site workforce.
- Prepare and maintain accurate site records, including daily reports, labour returns, and material deliveries.
- Manage site resources efficiently to control costs and minimise waste.
- Implement corrective actions promptly to resolve any quality or compliance concerns.
- Support the project manager in achieving project milestones and final handover requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate.
- Valid First Aid qualification.
- Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
- Full, clean driving licence.
Education
- Relevant construction or site management qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 6 in Construction Site Management or equivalent).
Experience
- Proven experience managing construction sites, preferably within retail new build projects.
- Demonstrable track record in successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Experience working on Aldi or similar supermarket new build developments is highly desirable.
Knowledge and Skills
- Comprehensive understanding of construction processes, site safety regulations, and quality control procedures.
- Strong leadership and team management skills to motivate and coordinate site personnel effectively.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and solve problems decisively.
- Competence in reading and interpreting construction drawings and technical specifications.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with all project stakeholders.
- Proficient in site management software and Microsoft Office applications.
Working Conditions
- The role is site-based, requiring presence on a live construction site in Hoxton.
- Working hours are full-time, typically Monday to Friday, with occasional extended hours to meet project demands.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory on site.
- The role involves physical activity, including site inspections and walking over uneven terrain.
- Contract duration aligns with the project timeline, with potential for extension based on performance and project needs.
