Project Support Officer

About this role

We are seeking a Project Support Officer for Education and Learning to serve as a key member of the Refugee, Resettlement, and Migration service.

In this role you will provide support across the Refugees, Resettlement and Migration service in all project governance, documentation and delivery. You will be responsible for maintaining and change control of project documents, for planning, managing and implementing a number of small projects, working to/within corporate project frameworks. You will collect, co-ordinate and analyse any management information required. You will plan and assist in the development and staging of a variety of events, including meetings, seminars, briefings etc.

£32,597 to £35,412 per annum.

Location

Your office base will be County Hall, Chichester, Hybrid working in office at least 1 day per week.

Working pattern

Full-time, 37 hours per week.

As the Project Support Officer, responsible for providing effective and efficient day to day support to the RRMS

team, including collating and analysing statistics for the ongoing monitoring of project performance/progress, and planning available resources.

You will be carrying out regular budget monitoring for projects using financial services systems. You will keep accurate and current records of commitment and expenditure against budgets, to ensure the project remains on target and within spend and enable senior managers to make informed decisions. You will also be responsible for the general team administration duties and supporting the wider directorate should the need occur.

  • Excellent IT skills, with a good knowledge of Microsoft packages.
  • Competent problem solver and have a sound understanding of project management, change control and reporting.

  • Advanced analytical skills to interpret and manipulate varied and complex project information.
  • Able to organise, plan and meet set targets e.g. for provision of urgent reports required by customer, or to manage progress against plans to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Developed communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a range of high-level clients/stakeholders and create and maintain effective working relationship and provide coaching to colleagues on process or documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate problems and resolve issues independently, planning solutions and making sound pragmatic decisions.
  • Advanced IT skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and other web-based applications, for word processing, analysis and research of data, creating electronic presentations.
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills to carry out financial analysis and reporting.

Qualifications and/or experience

* HNC/HND in an appropriate area or equivalent practical experience/range of knowledge.

* Relevant knowledge of project management processes, procedures and policies associated with working within a demanding service.

* Demonstrable experience of working as a competent member of a project team, ideally in a project support role or equivalent, whilst confident to implement projects independently.

* Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment and within project management systems/practices, and to provide effective support.

* Experience of project planning and implementation. Planning and implementing more than one project or project work stream at any given time.
