About this role

Opportunity to be part of the paediatric team at Wexham Park Hospital as a trust doctor F3/ST1-2 equivalent. Successful candidate will work across the paediatric and neonatal teams.

This post is for 12 months, commencing 5th August 2026. 1 posts is available.

The Paediatric Department has 29 acute medical and surgical in-patient beds and a 5-bed paediatric high dependency unit. There is a separate assessment area. (PAU)

There is an 18 cot, purpose built neonatal unit with 5 intensive care/high dependency cots. Full intensive care is offered to inborn babies greater than 27/40 weeks gestation. There is also a transitional care unit based on the post natal ward.

FY2/ST1-3 Trainees are on a full shift (Band 1A) and are organised in separate teams for General Paediatrics and for Neonates. The general ward & neonatal unit are separated by a single door allowing good registrar support across both sides of the department.

Within our department we have a mixture of FY2, ST1-3 in paediatrics and ST1-ST2 GP trainees all participating to a rolling junior doctor rota.

We are seeking an enthusiastic junior doctor who has an interest in Paediatrics and wants experience before committing to a full training programme.

The successful candidate will join the existing team in a modern hospital with a well-equipped children’s department and Local Neonatal Unit (level 2). The post includes shifts in both general paediatrics and neonates.

While this post does not carry formal training recognition, it does provide an opportunity to care for a tremendously varied group of patients in a large paediatric department in a busy District General Hospital. The post-holder will take part in a full shift rolling Rota, Band 1a.

You will be assigned a clinical supervisor who will oversee your continued professional development. Applications from doctors who would like to work part time will be considered.
