General hours of work are Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8am to 6pm with flexibility.

About the role of Assistant Operations Manager
This is a high profile and critical role within our business. You will oversee all regional activities, including expanding our client base and the delivery and development of the business.Penetrating new markets, you will increase business growth with both new and existing customers, forging new relationships with potential new customers and maintaining solid relationships with current customers to secure repeat business and deputise for Operational manager in their abscence.
Whilst motivating and leading your team, you will deliver an effective and efficient first-class service. You will also ensure that your workforce have relevant training and are equipped with the relevant skills to meet demands.The includes ensuring effective and prompt communication of toolbox talks, safety alerts and other contract methodology.
Working collaboratively with colleagues across the group, you will ensure best practice and develop and implement solutions to maximise profitability and by adding sustainable value.
Embedding management procedures and controls, you will drive productivity and will be accountable for achieving the contracts financial targets. This will include regular liaisons with the commercial and finance team and the reviewal of cost and commercial reports.
Health and Safety is also paramount to your role. Being accountable for all the depots ESG activities, you will ensure all works adhere to safe working procedures and all Health, Safety Quality and Environmental policies are implemented.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day management of regional traffic management operations.
- Assist in overseeing operational teams and depot activities.
- Help optimise resource allocation, including labour, vehicles, and equipment.
- Monitor performance, quality standards, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, traffic management, and company procedures.
- Support strategic initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
- Build and maintain relationships with customers and stakeholders.
- Contribute to business growth and development of long-term operational plans.

About you
We are looking for a highly motivated and confident individual. Whilst knowledge of the Traffic Management industry is beneficial, we welcome applications from candidates with an Operations, Logistics or Planning background. An excellent communicator and team worker, with experience of successfully identifying and proceeding with new business leads. Adaptable and flexible, you work well in ever-changing situations and in a fast-paced environment. You thrive establishing dynamic working relationships with suppliers, customers and colleagues, forging relationships built on trust and delivery.
What good looks like for an
Assistant Operations Manager
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Experience in the Traffic Management, Construction, Utilities or similar industry
- Experience leading a team within an operational environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong influencingand negotiationskills, and the ability to build strong working relationshipsand network with sectorstakeholders
- Numeracy skillsto manage budgets and bidcostings
- Pragmatic and ability to create solutions that meet businessneeds
- Collaborative in approach
- Proficient in the use of a PC,MicrosoftOffice software and ability to work with other business management systemsand use remote technology
- Local knowledge of the region's construction and maintenance market, particularly National Highways, local authority highway maintenance and utilities highways works
