An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Therapy Team at Hillingdon Hospital for a full time highly specialised Occupational therapist in the Trauma and Orthopaedic Team.
The position is primarily based on the consultant led 30 bedded Trauma and Orthopaedic ward at Hillingdon Hospital. You will be involved in the multi-professional audited pathways for Fractured neck of femur patients and major trauma cases and contribute to the ongoing review and improvement targets with these national drivers.
We also have an Older Adults rehabilitation ward on site where a proportion of our patients will continue their orthopaedic recovery after leaving the acute ward which is led by an Ortho-geriatrician.
This post also has a leadership component for the therapy input into the discharge ready service based on site.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced OT passionate about serving the T+O population here as part of our friendly, integrated inpatient therapy department.
The therapy department is the third largest staff group within the Trust and is widely respected. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play an essential part in the assessment, treatment, and discharge of patients. You will work closely with the patient, their support network, and Multidisciplinary colleagues to achieve a positive outcome.
In this role you will also have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills and contribute to the efficient flow of patients through our hospitals.

JOB PURPOSE
To provide highly specialised occupational therapy assessments and interventions for adult and paediatric trauma and orthopaedic inpatients at Hillingdon Hospital,
· Collaborate with colleagues working within Elective orthopaedics and surgery and cover cross site if required.
· Lead on the therapy input to the Discharge ready service and coordinate resources as required
· To work with the Team Lead in providing a holistic, clinically effective OT service within the Acute Trauma and Orthopaedic Services on both sites and within the Integrated Therapy Service.
· Act as a specialised resource for Occupational Therapists, therapy colleagues and other professionals.
· Be an active participant in the Trusts response to ongoing Fractured neck of femur and trauma pathways and Clinical Audit feeding into the MDT leadership team in these areas
· To provide professional and clinical leadership within the orthopaedic therapy team and wider integrated therapy service structure contributing to the continuous development of the service.
