About the role and school
We are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Newham from September. This Learning Support Assistant role involves supporting a small cohort of pupils with ASD, ADHD and additional learning needs within a structured and supportive classroom environment.
The school has a strong focus on inclusion, wellbeing and personalised support for pupils with additional needs. The successful Learning Support Assistant will work closely with teaching staff and the SEN team to help pupils access learning, regulate behaviour and develop social and communication skills.
This Learning Support Assistant role may involve personal care responsibilities and is best suited to candidates with previous childcare or SEN experience who are confident supporting pupils with a range of needs within a primary setting.
Job Responsibilities
Support pupils with ASD, ADHD and additional needs within the classroom
Provide 1
1 and small group intervention support
Assist with behaviour regulation and engagement in learning
Support communication and social development
Provide personal care support where required
Work collaboratively with teachers and SEN staff to support pupil progress
Qualifications/Experience
· Previous childcare or education-based experience is essential
· Experience supporting pupils with SEN desirable
· Valid DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service is essential
· Strong communication and behaviour support skills
· Right to work in the UK
