This is your chance to play a vital role in supporting our clinical teams, coordinating and scheduling SACT treatments, and helping us deliver exceptional care to patients and their families.

Working from our modern Cancer Centre Macmillan Suite, you’ll be at the heart of a service that prides itself on compassion, efficiency and outstanding patient experience. You’ll collaborate closely with clinical teams, patients and carers to ensure treatments are arranged smoothly and delivered in the right environment at the right time.

General Administration

Schedule all new referrals as per local procedure (most patients will attend day care unit, with a smaller group attending other sessions (e.g., bone marrow biopsies) or other treatments such as blood product support, nurse clinic. Liaise with patients via telephone to ensure that the proposed start date is amenable to them, to answer simple questions re attending Day care unit, procedures such as PICC insertion and scalp cooling and to escalate complex questions or concerns to the nursing team. To confirm in writing, all verbal information told to the patient.

Outpatient Pathway

Ensure that referral management is dealt with in accordance with the Cancer operational policy, SOPs and MDT outcomes.

Pathway tracking

To understand cancer referral to treatment (RTT) rules and use them to manage all patient journeys, updating databases as required.
