Job Summary

RR News is seeking an experienced, organised and commercially focused Retail Manager to oversee the daily operations of its retail store in Manchester. The successful candidate will manage employees, monitor sales performance, maintain appropriate stock levels and ensure excellent customer-service standards.

The Retail Manager will also be responsible for improving operational efficiency, supporting business growth and ensuring compliance with company procedures and relevant retail regulations.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage the store’s daily operations, including opening and closing procedures.

* Lead, supervise and support retail employees.

* Prepare staff rotas and maintain appropriate staffing levels.

* Allocate duties and monitor employee performance.

* Recruit, train and develop employees.

* Monitor sales, operational costs and key performance indicators.

* Develop and implement strategies to increase sales and profitability.

* Manage stock ordering, replenishment and inventory control.

* Monitor product availability and respond to customer demand.

* Maintain effective relationships with suppliers and delivery partners.

* Review product performance and recommend changes to the store’s product range.

* Maintain accurate sales, stock, waste and delivery records.

* Oversee cash handling, till reconciliation and banking procedures.

* Maintain high standards of merchandising, cleanliness and store presentation.

* Handle customer enquiries, complaints and feedback professionally.

* Plan and implement seasonal promotions and special offers.

* Ensure compliance with health and safety, food safety and age-restricted sales requirements.

* Monitor store security and take appropriate action to reduce theft, waste and stock loss.

* Prepare store performance reports for senior management.

* Identify operational issues and implement appropriate improvements.

* Experience supervising and developing retail employees.

* Experience managing stock, suppliers and product availability.

* Experience monitoring sales targets, costs and store performance.

* Experience handling customer complaints and resolving operational issues.

* Experience working in a convenience store, newsagent, supermarket or similar retail environment would be advantageous.

Qualifications

* A relevant qualification in retail management, business management or a related subject is desirable.

* Applicants with equivalent professional qualifications or substantial relevant retail-management experience will also be considered.

* Relevant training in health and safety, food safety or age-restricted sales would be advantageous.
