About Thomas Bennett Community College

Thomas Bennett Community College is a welcoming and ambitious 11–18 secondary school at the heart of the Crawley community,

The Role of the

Teacher of English

* Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering a love of reading, writing, and critical thinking

* Prepare students effectively for GCSE English Language and Literature, ensuring strong progress and outcomes

* Plan and adapt lessons to meet the needs of all learners, providing appropriate challenge and support

* Use assessment effectively to monitor progress and inform teaching

* Contribute to the ongoing development of the English curriculum and collaborate with colleagues across the department, school,

and Trust

* Lead or support extracurricular opportunities that promote literacy and a passion for English beyond the classroom

What We’re Looking For

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

* Experience of, or strong understanding of, teaching English at Key Stages 3 and 4

* A passion for English and the ability to inspire and engage students

* Strong classroom management and organisational skills

* A reflective, collaborative approach to teaching and professional development

* Commitment to contributing positively to the wider school and Trust community
