General AdministrationSchedule all new referrals as per local procedure (most patients will attend day care unit, with a smaller group attending other sessions (e.g., bone marrow biopsies) or other treatments such as blood product support, nurse clinic. Liaise with patients via telephone to ensure that the proposed start date is amenable to them, to answer simple questions re attending Day care unit, procedures such as PICC insertion and scalp cooling and to escalate complex questions or concerns to the nursing team. To confirm in writing, all verbal information told to the patient. Outpatient PathwayEnsure that referral management is dealt with in accordance with the Cancer operational policy, SOPs and MDT outcomes. Pathway trackingTo understand cancer referral to treatment (RTT) rules and use them to manage all patient journeys, updating databases as required.
