Graduate Teaching Assistant to join its team from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, or students completing their degree by September 2026, who have a strong academic background and are considering a future career in teaching. The school is particularly interested in candidates with degrees or strong subject knowledge in

English, Mathematics or Science.

You will work alongside experienced teachers across

Key Stages 3 and 4, supporting pupils in the classroom, delivering targeted interventions and helping students build the confidence and skills they need to succeed.

The Role

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will become an important member of the secondary school's support team. You will work closely with subject teachers to provide academic and pastoral support, with a particular emphasis on the

core subjects of English, Maths and Science.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Supporting teachers during lessons across English, Maths and Science.

Delivering 1

1 and small-group academic interventions.

  • Helping students develop their knowledge, confidence and independent learning skills.
  • Supporting pupils who require additional academic or learning support.
  • Assisting teachers with lesson preparation and classroom resources.
  • Helping to maintain a positive, calm and productive classroom environment.
  • Supporting effective behaviour management in accordance with school policies.
  • Monitoring student engagement and contributing to progress tracking.
  • Encouraging pupils to develop positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and the wider school team.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will be an ambitious graduate with a genuine interest in working with young people and developing a career in education.

You should have

  • A

2:1 degree or above, or be on track to graduate by September 2026.

  • Strong subject knowledge in

English, Mathematics or Science.

  • A genuine passion for supporting secondary-age students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The confidence to work with pupils individually, in small groups and within the classroom.
  • A positive, patient and resilient approach.
  • The ability to build strong relationships with students.
  • A proactive and adaptable attitude.
  • Previous experience in tutoring, mentoring, coaching, volunteering or youth work is advantageous, but

not essential.
