About this role
In Acute Medicine, you will join a well-established, consultant-led service delivering care across the Acute Assessment Unit, Emergency Department and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC). Consultant activity is structured around the acute medical take, post-take ward rounds, and ward-based responsibilities, providing a balanced mix of acute clinical decision-making, continuity of care, and ambulatory medicine. TheEndocrinologycomponentof the post is delivered across both sites, with outpatient activity based atSt Bartholomews Hospitaland inpatient endocrine work primarily atThe Royal London Hospital. This includes specialist endocrine consultation for inpatients, participation in multidisciplinary care, and contribution to the management of complex endocrine presentations. The Royal London Hospital is amajor trauma and neurosurgical centre,providinga distinctive opportunity to be involved in the assessment and management of endocrine complications ofneurosurgical disease and traumatic brain injury, alongside acute general medical care. The role also includes involvement inestablishedendocrine services at St Bartholomews, including outpatient clinics and multidisciplinary working within a tertiary endocrine centre with recognised strengths in pituitary disease. This cross-site model offers the opportunity tomaintainand develop specialistexpertiseacross bothacute and tertiary endocrine settings, whileremainingembedded in acute general medicine. The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality care across both organisations and support the development of integrated clinical pathways. Both departments are actively engaged in service development, quality improvement, and education. The postholder will have opportunities to contribute to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate trainees, as well as to the ongoing development of clinical pathways across acute and specialist care.
