About this role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Dietetic Assistant with an interest in paediatrics to join the Paediatric Nutrition and Dietetic Department at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
The department provides specialist Nutrition and Dietetic services across Charing Cross, St Mary’s and Hammersmith Hospitals. This post will be based at St Mary’s Hospital and will support the delivery of the Paediatric Food Allergy Service. The hours are currently worked over five weekday mornings.
The successful candidate will work closely with Paediatric Dietitians to support the provision of the food allergy service. The role includes both administrative and clinical support duties under the supervision of a registered Dietitian. Previous experience in nutrition or healthcare would be advantageous, although full support and training will be provided.
- To assist qualified therapy staff to deliver patient care, assessment and treatment including individual and group sessions.
- To carry out tasks, activities and responsibilities delegated by a qualified therapist. To follow instructions of treating qualified therapist to treat patients following a designated treatment plan.
- Gain valid informed consent prior to and as an ongoing process of any intervention. To work within a legal framework, under the supervision of a qualified therapist, including for those patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
- To communicate with patients, carers and relatives to obtain specific information as directed by the therapist.
- Care Certificate competencies will need to be achieved within six months of commencement of employment.
- To be responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient records in line with the legal requirements, trust guidelines and professional standard of practice.
