Tesco UK • Welwyn Garden City AL7 1GA
About this role
At Booker, we are transforming our supply chain and are looking for talented, driven Analysts and Senior Analysts to join our Supply Chain Transformation team.
You will play a key role in evolving our supply chain systems for the future, ensuring that goods are forecasted and ordered in the most effective way. Your focus will be on maximising availability, improving end to end efficiency, and reducing food waste. As an Analyst or Senior Analyst, you will be instrumental in developing sales based forecasting and ordering algorithms that underpin these processes.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join Booker’s Supply Chain Transformation team at the beginning of a significant journey to build new systems from the ground up. There is a real opportunity to deliver meaningful, transformational change across one of the UK’s most dynamic supply chains.
- Design algorithms to generate sales forecasts across the wholesale business.
- Develop process flows to support the collaborative management of promotional forecasts.
- Identify and investigate issues within forecasting algorithms, highlighting key improvement opportunities and recommending solutions.
- Build a strong understanding of Booker’s existing supply chain systems to inform design decisions and create comparison metrics for new models.
- Develop proof of concept solutions and create simulation tools to model performance improvements before moving to production ready solutions.
- Analyse and compare forecasting outputs, identifying differences between model versions and recommending which approaches should be implemented.
- Evaluate the costs and benefits of changes throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring all outcomes deliver a clear return on investment.
- Engage with the wider group, including Tesco Supply Chain Transformation and Technology teams, to learn from their approaches and experiences.
- Collaborate closely with Booker Information Systems and third party engineering teams to deliver the designed solutions.
- Deliver changes in line with the project roadmap, keeping stakeholders informed and managing any risks to timelines or delivery.
- Develop practical and innovative solutions using your own ideas.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to interpret data and generate insights that drive business improvements.
- Effective problem solving skills, able to identify root causes and deliver practical solutions.
- Confident communicator, with the ability to clearly explain complex topics and collaborate across teams.
- Technical capability in SQL and Python preferred, or experience in other coding languages with a willingness to learn quickly. Experience with Databricks is advantageous.
- Good commercial awareness, with an understanding of supply chain and retail or wholesale operations.
Additional expectations for Senior Analysts
- Proven experience in an analytical role, ideally within forecasting or ordering.
- Ability to prioritise effectively, manage time well, and work independently.
- Strong project management skills, including planning, stakeholder management, and risk identification.
- Proactive in communicating progress, challenges, and solutions to stakeholders.
- Acts as a role model, supporting and developing others.
- Takes initiative to identify opportunities and drive improvements independently.
