About this role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic colleague to join our team to further enhance our services and share responsibility of the Diabetes and Endocrinology service and to maintain the highest clinical standards in the management of Diabetes and Endocrinology.
The Arun Baksi Centre of Diabetes and Endocrinology is the specialist resource on the Island for these two specialities. The team work closely together to provide a comprehensive service for people with diabetes and endocrine conditions within a self-contained unit.
There will be opportunity for the appointee to develop their own sub specialty interest and research could be incorporated into the role.
· Provision of a high-quality comprehensive district general hospital diabetes and endocrinology service with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the service.
· Participate fully in the ongoing development of the diabetes and endocrinology service, in line with national and NICE frameworks.
· Professional supervision and management of junior medical staff including the observance of local employment and human resource policies and procedures
· Responsibilities for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education activity, locally and nationally.

· Engage in medical audit and other clinical effectiveness activities, in particular the Trust’s Clinical Governance processes, fostering improvements in quality and standards.
· CPD is provided in job plans and attendance at audit and other governance meetings is mandatory
· Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences
