About the Role

Laytons is seeking a Paralegal to join its busy Employment team, with further growth anticipated over the coming year. The Employment team handle a wide range of contentious and non-contentious matters with a good balance of Respondent and Claimant work, advising a wide spectrum of international and national corporate clients as well as high net worth individuals. The Paralegal will provide legal administrative support to the Partners and other team members on a wide range of matters. This is a part-time role, working three days a week.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide legal administrative support on a wide range of Employment matters and case management tasks.

2. Assist with preparing for disputes and hearings, including bundle preparation, diarising deadlines and maintaining an up to date tribunal hearing spreadsheet.

3. Support with file opening and file organisation/management, maintaining accurate records.

4. Draft and prepare legal documents and standard communications.

5. Conduct legal research as and when required.

6. Provide assistance with the preparation of client presentations and client seminars that are held both in person and online. Managing attendance for the same and maintaining client lists.

7. Liaise with clients in a professional manner and deal with correspondence.

8. Assist the department with billing procedures, time recording and provide support as may be required.

9. Ensure that all matters adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, including anti-money laundering (AML) and compliance procedures as appropriate.

10. You may also be required to undertake other or additional duties as the firm may reasonably require from time to time.

Skills and Experience Requirements

  • Previous experience of providing professional administrative support in a law firm would be highly advantageous.
  • High standard of legal drafting skills.
  • A law degree (LLB) is highly desirable.
  • Able to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good team player with a collegiate and collaborative approach.
  • Able to plan workloads and resources effectively, work to strict deadlines and prioritise tasks.
  • Proactive approach and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Strong IT skills with ability to use Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint) and bundling software.
  • Able to use case management systems.
