About this role

This is a substantive 10 PA Consultant post, split equally between Imperial College NHS Trust (ICHT) and London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNW).The post will consist of general neurology clinics and inpatient liaison services at LNW and general neurology and neuromuscular clinics and inpatient work at ICHT.

The Neurology Department provides comprehensive adult neurological care for both emergency and elective work. This includes an inpatient Neurology ward (Charing Cross), Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), a planned Neurological Treatment Unit (NTU), an Acute Neurology service, a wide range of sub-speciality outpatient clinics and a number of Multi-disciplinary team meetings.

This a large department with over 50 Consultant Neurologists linked to Imperial (based at Charing Cross, St. Mary’s or Hammersmith Hospitals), many with clinical duties at allied District General Hospitals and/or research commitments within academic departments at Imperial College.

The Neurology department is complemented by the Hyperacute Stroke Unit, Neurosurgery Unit, Neuroradiology Department (with access to CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine and interventional neuroradiology) and Neurophysiology Department.

For a whole-time contract

A total of 10 PAs

Clinical Activities

7.5 PAs per week (including clinical activity, clinically related activity, predictable and unpredictable emergency work)

Supporting Professional Activities

2.5 PAs per week (including audit, clinical governance, CPD, teaching, research, educational supervision of junior staff and CPD). A formal job plan will be agreed between the appointee and divisional director, on behalf of the medical Director, this is not designed to be exhaustive.

The post holder and clinical director/ Head of Specialty will review the job plan annually in line with the provisions in schedule 3 of the terms and conditions. Either may propose amendment of the job plan.
