A Vacancy at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) provide care and treatment for people with serious mental health difficulties, including but not limited to psychotic illnesses, mood and personality disorders, and other disorders. Southwark has four Community Mental Health.
1. To provide full time medical input to the service and assessment of patients in their own accommodation as required
2. This will include physical health assessment and examination and where necessary appropriate investigations for patients
3. To undertake liaison with professionals outside the team including community and inpatient mental health services, GPs, housing providers, colleagues in the Acute Trust, and Adult Social Care, amongst others
4. The doctor would assess under the Mental Health Act for admission where appropriate
5. The doctor is responsible for record keeping including documentation of assessment and communication/ liaison with other agencies including primary care.
6. The doctor will support the wider staff team. There will be opportunities to contribute to clinical governance, and formal and informal teaching.
7. The doctor would be expected to be available to work 10 clinical sessions on the unit. The doctor will be able to take regular time for professional development as agreed with the team Consultant Psychiatrist.
8. The doctor would receive clinical supervision from the BBR Consultant Psychiatrist each week.
