Job Title

Handy-Man / Property Maintenance Operative

About Us

We are a dedicated and forward‑thinking home care organisation providing high‑quality supported living services. Our team is committed to promoting independence, dignity, and meaningful outcomes for the people we support. We value compassion, professionalism, and a collaborative approach.

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable, experienced, and flexible Handy-Man / Property Maintenance Operative to support the upkeep and maintenance of multiple properties operated by our supported living care company.

The successful candidate will work across several residential properties located in Ilford, Romford, and Hackney, carrying out general repairs, maintenance tasks, and property improvements to ensure safe, clean, and well-maintained environments for both staff and service users.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys varied work, can manage their own workload, and is confident working independently while also communicating effectively with care and management teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • General property repairs and maintenance
  • Basic plumbing, painting, decorating, and carpentry tasks
  • Furniture assembly and minor installations
  • Responding to maintenance issues in a timely manner
  • Conducting routine property checks and identifying repair needs
  • Liaising with management regarding required materials or specialist repairs
  • Supporting the overall presentation and safety of the properties
  • Travelling between properties as required

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for someone who

  • Has proven experience in property maintenance or handyman work
  • Is trustworthy, dependable, and professional
  • Can work flexibly across multiple locations
  • Holds a full UK driving licence and ideally has access to their own vehicle
  • Has good problem-solving skills and can work independently
  • Is confident interacting respectfully within care environments
  • Has basic knowledge across plumbing, decorating, carpentry, and general repairs

Important Information

Some of our supported living properties accommodate individuals with challenging behaviours. On occasion, service users may display behaviours that can be verbally or physically aggressive.

The successful candidate may therefore work in proximity to service users while carrying out maintenance tasks. However, trained support staff will always be present on-site to provide assistance and ensure a safe working environment.

Experience working within care, supported living, housing, or similar environments would be advantageous, but is not essential.

What We Offer

  • Flexible working arrangement
  • Consistent ongoing work across multiple properties
  • Supportive and professional management team
  • Opportunity for long-term working relationship
  • Mileage/travel contribution can be discussed
