Job Purpose

To provide high-quality social work services to children and families within an assessment-based service, ensuring safeguarding, child welfare, and positive outcomes for children and young people. The role involves undertaking family assessments, producing reports, and working collaboratively with multi-agency professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive parenting and family assessments within agreed timescales
  • Assess risk, safeguarding concerns, and the needs of children and families
  • Produce clear, accurate, and evidence-based reports for internal and external use
  • Work closely with local authorities, courts, and other professionals involved in child protection cases
  • Develop and implement intervention plans to support families
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records in line with regulatory and organisational standards
  • Participate in case conferences, reviews, and multi-agency meetings
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Promote the welfare and best interests of children at all times

Key Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
  • Experience within Children & Families Social Work
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and assessment processes
  • Experience completing family assessments and written reports
  • Ability to manage a complex caseload
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-agency environment
  • Full UK driving licence desirable
