Release to undertake a secondment is not automatic and must be agreed between the colleague, their current line manager, and the recruiting line manager. The Band 5 Staff Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based nursing care while ensuring patient safety, dignity, and wellbeing. The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for a defined group of patients, working both independently and as part of the multidisciplinary team. The role is to provide safe, compassionate, and effective nursing care while contributing to continuous improvement in patient outcomes, experience, and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver holistic, patient-centred care in line with professional standards and local policies Carry out clinical assessments and develop, implement, and review care plans Safely administer medications, treatments, and clinical interventions Monitor patient progress and recognise and respond to clinical deterioration Maintain accurate, clear, and timely patient records Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and the wider healthcare team Promote a safe clinical environment, including infection prevention and risk management Support health promotion, education, and patient discharge planning Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement, and service development Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain NMC registration Support and supervise students and less experienced staff where appropriate
