About the role

Join the Mary Lyon Centre at MRC Harwell as an Engineering Apprentice and be part of a team supporting world-leading research. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers to help maintain essential facilities and equipment used in scientific discovery.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll learn as part of a supportive team, building practical skills across mechanical and electrical systems while contributing to work that has real-world impact.

What you will do

  • Support the maintenance and installation of engineering systems
  • Work as part of a team to keep facilities operating effectively
  • Learn to diagnose and resolve technical issues
  • Contribute to the delivery of high-quality technical support for research

Training and development

  • Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician

What we are looking for

  • 5 GCSEs including Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent
  • Interest in engineering, science or technology
  • Willingness to learn and contribute as part of a team
  • Problem-solving approach and attention to detail
