We are seeking a skilled and motivated Band 6 Osteoporosis Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team. The postholder will play a key role in the assessment and ongoing management of patients diagnosed with, or at risk of, osteoporosis, contributing to the delivery of high‑quality, patient‑centred care.

Previous experience in osteoporosis is not essential, as full training and supervision will be provided. However, applicants should be able to demonstrate experience in long‑term condition management and show the ability to develop specialist knowledge and skills within this field. The successful candidate will provide telephone advice and follow‑up support, assist with clinic coordination, and act as a resource for patients, carers, and colleagues.

This Band 6 role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive and forward‑thinking team, with access to structured development pathways to build competence in osteoporosis management. The postholder will contribute to service development and help ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and responsive care.

To work as an Osteoporosis nurse in the assessment, treatment, education and support of those diagnosed with or considered at risk of osteoporosis.

·To gain knowledge and develop competence in the diagnosis and management of osteoporosis, through both internal and external training.

·To manage patient telephone message line dealing with patient queries and offering specialist support and advice alongside the Osteoporosis team.

·To manage patient follow-up and waiting lists ensuring patients are recalled and/or appointed in a timely manner and to the relevant clinic.

·Undertake telephone consultation follow up clinics to give patients’ specialist advice on disease management, x-ray and blood results and discuss onward management plans under the guidance of the Osteoporosis team.

·To act as a resource for patients, carers and other health professionals providing relevant information, support and advice.

·To participate in the continuing development of the osteoporosis service alongside the Osteoporosis team.
