Senior House Office in Dermatology

The clinical activity of the SHO centres on the Liaison Dermatology Service (LDS). The LDS is that part of our practice which deals with referrals from the wards and the Emergency Department. The burden of skin disease amongst in-patients is high, either as a primary cause for admission or as a secondary clinical problem. Referrals are sent through to the LDS from the wards every day and the SHOs role is to collate the referrals, organise the daily ward rounds, and perform the in-patient skin biopsies. There is also an opportunity for the successful candidate to have their own theatre list.
