Head of Operations - Integrated Facilities Management Mitie | National role
Mitie is seeking an experienced and driven Head of Operations to lead delivery across a high-profile national portfolio.
This is a critical leadership role, acting as deputy to the Account Director, where you will take ownership of operational performance, strengthen senior client relationships, and drive meaningful improvement across a complex, multi-site IFM contract.
This is not a maintenance role — it's an opportunity for a proven leader to step into a visible, high-impact environment and make a difference.
The RoleYou will lead the delivery of integrated facilities services across multiple sites, ensuring safe, compliant, and high-performing operations across both hard and soft service lines.
Key responsibilities include
-Leading national IFM delivery across hard services (M&E, fabric) and soft services (cleaning, catering, workplace services, front-of-house)
-Driving consistent performance against KPIs, SLAs, and contractual obligations
-Leading, developing, and inspiring a team of senior operational leaders
-Strengthening client confidence and stakeholder relationships at a senior level
-Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and service innovation
-Supporting the delivery of the Account Plan and wider strategic objectives
-Ensuring full compliance across HSE, statutory, and contractual requirements
-Leading performance reviews, reporting, and operational governance
What We're Looking ForExperience
-Senior-level experience in Integrated Facilities Management (IFM)
-Proven track record delivering multi-site, national portfolios
-Strong experience across both hard and soft FM services
-Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers, and complex delivery models
Leadership
-Experience leading senior managers within multi-layered teams
-Track record of transformation, stabilisation, or culture change
-Ability to operate as a trusted number two with progression to Account Director
Client Engagement
-Highly credible, confident, and visible with senior stakeholders
-Strong relationship builder with the ability to influence and rebuild trust
-Commercially aware and solutions-focused
Technical & Operational
-Strong understanding of compliance, H&S, and statutory FM requirements
-Commercially astute, with experience in budgets, reporting, and performance management
