G10643 - Deputy Head of Building Control (Class 3 Specialist)

Main responsibilities
The role involves
- Managing a team of around eight building inspectors
- Overseeing complex and high-risk building projects
•
Ensuring compliance with
o Building Act 1984
o Building Safety Act 2022
o Building Regulations 2010
- Conducting plan assessments and site inspections
- Liaising with architects, engineers, contractors, and the Building Safety Regulator
- Leading enforcement and regulatory decisions on major schemes
Essential requirements
Candidates are expected to have
- Level 3 Building Inspector qualification
- Degree in Building Control, Surveying, Construction, Structural Engineering, or related field
- Chartered membership of RICS, CABE, CIOB, or equivalent
- Strong leadership or mentoring experience
- Detailed knowledge of UK building safety legislation
- Experience of managing or mentoring junior staff or large projects within Building Control or a similar specialist technical area with clients and/or customer-facing aspects;
- Ability to motivate staff, set priorities and targets, direct and plan work to provide an integrated service to meet standards and deadlines.
