This unique and exciting role in the Cabinet Office Information and Capabilities team supports the management of highly secure IT and telephony systems in Cabinet Office and No.10. This is a rare opportunity to play a key role as part of a small and supportive team delivering a business-critical service right in the heart of HMG.This role offers wide-ranging hands-on experience, real responsibility, and the ability to make an impact in a fascinating and constantly evolving environment.
The individual will need to work flexibly across two core functions
- Providing a local service desk for CO and No.10, becoming an in-house expert on highly secure IT and telephony systems; a source of support and knowledge for all users. The individual will manage accounts, train new users, and work across CO and our suppliers to find solutions to issues as they arise.
- Support delivery of a range of hardware and software projects. The team is responsible for a broad programme of projects, working to refresh and update existing systems and deliver new capabilities. This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape our secure IT capability, ensuring our systems meet the long-term requirements of the department.
This is a fast-paced environment, where the ability to work adaptably as part of a team and juggle competing priorities is essential. You will deal with internal and external stakeholders at all levels - including in CO and No. 10 security teams, the Agencies, and technical experts across Government. Your role will be hands-on and you will be responsible for helping deliver the full range of our highly secure IT services - everything from delivering training to new users to trouble-shooting technical problems.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team delivering a local service desk function, providing support to users on system related incidents or problems, escalating to senior management and the Service Provider as appropriate;
- Manage User Accounts for the highly secure IT system and handle related queries from users;
- Deliver training to new users on the highly secure IT system;
- Diary and inbox management;
- Act as the point of contact for the Service Provider, and develop communication products to inform users about incidents, system changes, and developments;
- Work with external partners to co-ordinate and manage installation, maintenance/repairs, removal and storage of all secure IT;
- Support delivery of a range of hardware and software projects, including capturing user requirements, developing project plans, supporting development of training packages and co-ordinating delivery;

NOTE
Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate will be based in a secure environment with limited opportunities for remote working.
