About this role
An opportunity has arisenfor up to 12 months Fixed Term or Secondment professional development opportunity for Band 5 in the New Medical Day Unit at Conquest to cover Maternity leave.
The MDU is a day service to provide a range of clinical procedures for patients under multiple specialties.
You must be a Registered General Nurse; experience in medical nursing is an advantage. The post would be suitable for qualified and newly qualified nurse. You will pride yourself on delivering high standards of nursing care, be flexible have the ability to work in a busy environment caring for patients within the Medical Day Unit. We require enthusiastic individuals who can work flexibly within the team over 5-day periods. Hours of work are from 8.00 am to 8.30 pm.
In return you will receive development and training, also the support of a committed team of general and specialist nurses

Use a range of technique to ensure set and monitor standards of clinical practice, audit, research and teaching to set monitor and continually improve standards of care and patient experience.
Ensure safe and effective clinical practice.
Enhance patient experience.
To lead, manage and develop team performance, promote professionalism and trust.
Ensure effective delivery of Divisional and Organisational objectives.
Ensure efficient and effective use of resources, managing a devolved budget.
Ensuring all patients prescription and medication is available on day of treatment.
Ensure patients undertake initial assessment for fitness to undergo treatment that
day.
Gain consent from patients to undergo treatment.
Liaise with family, friends and relatives as required.
Ensuring patients are treated with dignity and respect.
Ensuring a discharge summary is completed for the patients General Practitioner
on the same day the patient is discharged.
Completing and incident reporting using the Datix system for any near miss,
potential or actual incidents.
