Long Term Futures is recruiting an enthusiastic and motivated Sports Coach for a full-time role within a vibrant secondary school in Islington. This opportunity is ideal for someone passionate about sports, physical education, and supporting young people to develop confidence, teamwork, and resilience both inside and outside the classroom.

The successful candidate will work closely with PE staff, pastoral teams, and classroom teachers to engage students through sport and physical activity. The role will involve supporting PE lessons, leading small group activities, and encouraging positive behaviour and participation across the school environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting PE lessons and delivering engaging sports activities to students across KS3 and KS4.
  • Promoting teamwork, discipline, and positive behaviour through sport and physical activity.
  • Working with students who may require additional encouragement, motivation, or behavioural support.
  • Assisting with lunchtime, after-school, and intervention sports programmes where required.
  • Supporting students' physical, emotional, and social development through structured activities.
  • Helping to maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment during sports sessions.
  • Encouraging participation and healthy lifestyles among students across the school community.
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff, SEN teams, and pastoral staff to support student progress and engagement.

Essential Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Sports Coach, PE Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, or in a similar role.
  • Experience working with secondary-aged students is desirable.
  • A strong passion for sport, fitness, and supporting young people's development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships quickly.
  • A patient, energetic, and resilient approach when supporting students with varying needs.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school support team.
  • Must hold a valid enhanced DBS check on the update service.
