Assistant Psychologist - Band 5 | East London NHS Foundation Trust

We are seeking two motivated Assistant Psychologists to join our Newham Emotional and Behavioral (E&B) team working in Front Door Team (FDT) and Neurodevelopmental Team (NDT). One post holder will support the clinical work of the FDT by supporting the processing of new referrals, liaising with referrers, assisting with consultations and contributing to the screening pathway for ADHD and Autism.

The other post holder will support clinicians to provide a specialist service within CAMHS to neurodivergent children, young people and their families. This is a community-based post offering evidence-based episodes of care, via assessments, formulation and group/individual interventions.

The successful candidate will be offered opportunities to learn and consolidate clinical skills in assessment and interventions and will receive high quality clinical supervision with a clinical psychologist.There will be opportunities to co-run workshops and groups within the team. There will also be the opportunity to shadow and/or complete psychometric testing under supervision and work closely with FDT/ NDT Clinical Leads to support audits and data management.

The post holders will directly contribute to the positive working environment within the multi-disciplinary team and some specialist pathway work as required. This position will offer valuable experience for those aspiring to pursue a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, with opportunities for professional development and supervision.

Under supervision from a qualified Psychologist, the post-holder will carry out the following duties

• Assist with the processing of new referrals, including liaising with referrers and gathering relevant information
• Assisting with consultations by preparing background information and documenting key discussions accordingly
• Delivery of triage assessments including risk, formulating plans for treatment and offering group and brief interventions where necessary
• Working collaboratively with the FDT to support clinical decision making and service delivery
• Assisting with audits, data collection and analysis to support service improvement
• Contributing to the screening pathway for ADHD and Autism, ensuring effective triage and assessment process
• Work under supervision to support psychological interventions and assessment where appropriate.

· Joining qualified colleagues to provide ADHD assessments with CYP and families

· Joining qualified colleagues to provide feedback meetings with CYP and families

· Scheduling and carrying out triage assessment phone calls

· Supporting qualified colleagues to provide the Managing Behaviours that Challenge parent group

· Supporting qualified colleagues to provide Positive Behaviour Support interventions
