About this role

Managerial Responsibilities

  • Responsible for monitoring and ensuring that the operation and maintenance of Estates services, buildings and building services installations comply with health service requirements and statutory instruments.
  • Directing, encouraging and motivating contractors to achieve financial and key performance targets.
  • Provide long term maintenance planning, short term project planning and emergency/contingency planning for critical services.
  • To co-ordinate and liaise with other staff within the Estates Directorate ensuring efficiency in service provision.

Manage the provision, maintenance, and statutory compliance of NHS Estates electrical infrastructure, plant, equipment, and services to ensure safe, resilient, and fit‑for‑purpose healthcare environments across all Trust sites.

Lead the operation, maintenance, and lifecycle management of hospital electrical engineering systems, ensuring continuous safety, compliance, and reliability.

Provide authoritative specialist electrical engineering advice to managers, clinical teams, and Estates staff to support effective decision‑making and operational resilience.

Specify, procure, and manage electrical engineering contracts, delivering high performance, value for money, and strong contractor governance. Ensure full compliance with statutory legislation, NHS England guidance, Health Technical Memoranda, and relevant standards.

Develop cost‑effective, evidence‑based maintenance strategies that support patient safety and business continuity. Monitor contractor performance, address non‑compliance, and ensure systems are inspected, tested, and accurately documented to meet regulatory, audit, and assurance requirements.

Travel between Trust sites as required to support operational delivery, inspections, audits, and stakeholder engagement.
