Trust Grade Registrar in Cardiology

About this role

The post is for one year in the first instance and the appointee has day to day responsibilities for a 30-36 bedded Cardiology ward. In addition to providing Registrar level care on the Cardiology ward and in outpatient clinic it is anticipated that the appointee will contribute to the cardiology Inreach service. Where possible there will be the opportunity for training in echocardiography and cardiac cath lab procedural work, under the appropriate consultant supervision. The post holder will be expected to complete outpatient correspondence promptly so that GPs receive the communication within the following 10 days. The post holder will also be required to participate fully in the audit arrangements for the medical unit. A comprehensive induction course will take place and the post holder will be relieved of normal duties in order to attend. The post holder accepts that he or she will perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate Consultant in consultation where practicable with his/her colleagues both senior and junior. Commitments arising in such circumstances are, however, exceptional and junior doctors should not be required to undertake work of this kind for prolonged periods or on a regular basis.
