Rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission, we support families across Surrey, north-west London and south-west London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, psychological, social and medical care. At the heart of what we do are our dedicated staff; their exceptional commitment and professionalism means every family has the opportunity to make every moment count. About the role We are introducing a new senior role, to support and enable our Psychosocial Services for families at Shooting Star Childrens Hospices. This is an opportunity for us to welcome a therapist or psychologist to our team, who has management experience, and is qualified to practice family therapy. Your key purpose will be to ensure our care is a safe as it can be, and the best that children and families can receive. The Senior Psychosocial Lead will help us to continue to develop our governance, our psychosocial education pathway and wellbeing support for our people. The role includes day-to-day clinical oversight of the teams, and of families in crisis. Alongside responsibilities as a service manager, we anticipate the Senior Psychosocial Lead will have one day a week of client-facing work, offering family therapy. Family Therapy is not something weve offered at SSCH before, but we see the need for this. The goal is to provide an intervention that can respond to the relational issues, conflict, communication, trauma and emotional distress families can experience in their grief. The Senior Psychosocial Lead will work alongside our psychosocial service leads and senior clinicians, and will act as a deputy to the Head of Psychosocial Services. At Shooting Star we have an award-winning model of psychosocial care, which at its very core is focused on accessibility and inclusivity, making it as easy as possible for those facing the devastating death of a child, to receive the support they need. It is delivered by a passionate, multi-disciplinary team of social workers, family support workers, counsellors, events team and physio, arts, trauma and complementary therapists. We are a compassionate, forward-thinking, creative and courageous team who strive for the very best for families.
