About this role
Sizewell C’s business is to design, finance, construct, commission, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure at Sizewell C in Suffolk. Overall, whilst the Company is in the construction phase, the Boards’ principal focus is on the development and construction of Sizewell C on time, on budget and to the highest quality and safety standards. The Company is maturing to meet all these requirements. Sizewell C is economically regulated by OFGEM under the RAB model similar to other UK electricity distribution networks and Thames Tideway. Sizewell C construction strategy is to replicate the design of Hinkley Point C, using the majority of the same supply chain, but innovating in the way it is delivered to achieve savings in time and cost of around 20%. The CCO will need to be guided by and incorporate lessons learned from the Hinkley Point C commercial delivery to achieve Sizewell C’s ambition. Following Financial Completion and Revenue Commencement, Sizewell C is fully funded and is owned by; The Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero representing HM Government, La Caisse, Centrica, EDF and Amber Infrastructure.

At Sizewell C, we are building one of the most important infrastructure projects in the UK. As we continue to grow and prepare for construction, we are looking for a highly skilled Expatriate and Employment Tax Manager to join our Finance team.
This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of complex employment and expatriate tax matters at scale, supporting a major programme with international reach.
Why join us as an Expatriate and Employment Tax Manager?
This is more than just a tax role.
You will be part of a nationally significant project, helping to power Britain’s future while shaping how employment and expatriate tax is managed within a newly independent organisation. You will have the opportunity to build processes from the ground up, influence senior stakeholders and make a real impact from day one.
If you are looking for a role where your expertise will be valued, challenged and visible, this is it.
What you will be doing…
Act as the subject matter expert on all employment and expatriate tax matters across the business
Manage PAYE compliance including PSAs, P11Ds, CIS and short-term business visitor requirements
Lead on tax support for our expatriate population including registrations, payroll reviews and HMRC interaction
Ensure all employment tax policies, processes and governance are robust, compliant and continuously improved
Provide technical advice to senior stakeholders across HR, Finance and the Executive team
Drive automation, simplification and accuracy of tax reporting and compliance processes
Act as a key point of contact with HMRC and external stakeholders
What we are looking for
Strong experience in both expatriate tax and employment tax is essential and candidates must have hands on experience across both areas
Ideally 5 to 10 years experience, with a preference for more senior profiles who can operate at manager level with minimal oversight
Experience managing expatriate populations, including registrations, HMRC interaction, tax returns and payroll alignment
Strong knowledge of employment tax compliance, including PSAs and review of expenses such as travel, hotel and business mileage
Proven experience in tax governance and administration, ideally within a large or publicly listed organisation or within HMRC
CTA qualified or equivalent experience is essential
Background in HMRC or Big 4 or senior in-house practice employment tax role is highly essential
Comfortable acting as a subject matter expert, working with stakeholders across Finance, HR and senior leadership
Experience with SAP or S4Hana is beneficial but not essential
Ready to make an impact?
If you are ready to bring your expertise into a role where you can truly shape how employment and expatriate tax is delivered at scale, we would love to hear from you.
This is your chance to step into a high profile, high impact position on one of the UK’s most exciting infrastructure projects.
Apply now and be part of something that will power the future.
When joining Sizewell C, you may wonder why you are contacted by colleagues with an EDF email or see the EDF logo on portals that you access and/or documentation you receive; this is because we have partnered with EDF for the provision of a number of support services whilst we complete a successful transition out of the EDF group.
At Sizewell C we encourage and embrace diversity and how it can improve our experience and performance at work. It is a requirement that those who join us have the right to work in the UK. Whilst sponsorship may be a possibility that we can explore, we are fully committed to local recruitment where possible, and those already holding the right to work in the UK.
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.
