Short Description
Role Overview The ICT Support Technician Apprentice will support the day-to-day operation of the company’s IT systems and infrastructure. The role will provide practical experience across IT support, networking, device management, cyber security, system monitoring, documentation, and infrastructure maintenance. You will work closely with experienced engineers and gain exposure to a broad range of technologies while developing professional and technical skills.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 6:00pm with a one-hour unpaid lunch break, in line with company working practices and apprenticeship requirements.

Forfront develops and delivers software solutions and digital services to public sector and commercial organisations across the UK. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic ICT Support Technician Apprentice to join our Technology and TechOps team and build a strong foundation in IT support, infrastructure, networking, and cyber security.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about technology and looking to develop hands-on experience while completing a Level 3 ICT Apprenticeship.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1st and 2nd line IT support for users with PC hardware, software, and general technical issues.
- Work with senior engineers on infrastructure, security, and continuous improvement projects.
- Assist with network monitoring and basic troubleshooting of LAN, Wi-Fi, and connectivity issues.
- Maintain network and infrastructure documentation, ensuring all changes are accurately recorded.
- Carry out daily monitoring of system health, backup jobs, endpoint security, and server alerts.
- Assist in researching and implementing improvements to system monitoring and IT processes.
- Perform daily patch management health checks and assist with mitigating or approving missing patches.
- Follow change management procedures and maintain accurate technical documentation.
- Set up and configure desktops, PCs, user accounts, printers, and peripheral devices.
- Assist with PC deployments, desk moves, hardware installations, and re-cabling.
- Assist with software installations, updates, and licence management.
- Monitor helpdesk tickets and ensure issues are logged, updated, and resolved appropriately.
- Assist with basic 1st line server administration and routine maintenance tasks.
- Support user onboarding and offboarding activities.
- Maintain IT asset registers and inventory records.
- Adhere to IT security policies, compliance procedures, and change control processes.

- Experience building or troubleshooting PCs or home technology setups.
Qualifications Required
Essential
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above or equivalent).
- A genuine passion for IT and technology.
Desirable
- ICT, Computing, or Technology-related qualification.
- Previous work experience, voluntary work, or personal projects in IT.
