About the role

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Merton is seeking a passionate EYFS Teacher to join their Early Years team from September. This is a full-time, long-term position – perfect for an experienced educator who truly believes in the power of play-based learning and has a natural, genuine care for the youngest learners.

Please note

This role is not suitable for ECTs – we are looking for a teacher with proven experience in EYFS who can hit the ground running and contribute to a nurturing, child-led environment.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with substantial experience in EYFS (Nursery or Reception)

A deep, authentic passion for working with children aged 3–5

Strong commitment to play-based, child-initiated learning within a structured setting

Excellent understanding of the EYFS framework, observation, and assessment

Ability to build warm, positive relationships with children, staff, and families

Key responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, play-based learning experiences that foster curiosity, independence, and joy

Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment

Observe, assess, and record children’s progress in line with EYFS goals

Work closely with teaching assistants, parents, and external professionals

Uphold the school’s nurturing ethos and safeguarding policies

Requirements

UK QTS (essential)

Minimum 1–2 years’ EYFS teaching experience (ECTs will not be considered)

Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection

Available for full-time work from September, committed to a long-term role
