Applications are invited for the post of Counselling Supervisor working within the Directorate of Student Life at Royal Holloway University of London.
This part-time role provides an exciting opportunity to play an important role in the delivery of Royal Holloway’s wellbeing and experience offering. The Directorate of Student Life includes a broad range of student facing teams who are core to the student journey: Active Lifestyle & Sport, Chaplaincy, Counselling & Mental Health, Disability & Neurodiversity, Hall Life, International & Money Advice, Student Casework, Student Engagement & Insights, and Wellbeing Support.
Reporting to the Head of Counselling and Mental Health they will contribute to the work of the Directorate and support the strategy and aims of the University and Student Journey Division. Role holders will be expected to demonstrate our University values - being Daring, Innovative, Open and Respectful – in their work and be a champion of equality, diversity and inclusion.
They will be required to provide
Regular clinical 1-2-1 supervision for Counsellors, Counselling Caseworkers and Trainee Counsellors.
Group supervision sessions for Counselling and Mental Health Team staff.
Support to Counsellors with risk management of students and where there is a cause for concern taking appropriate steps to mitigate the risk.
Attend monthly meetings with Head of Counselling and Mental Health
We are also seeking a candidate who holds a recognised qualification to deliver clinical supervision and be an accredited member of a relevant professional body (BACP, UKCP, or NCPS). They must demonstrate an excellent knowledge and understanding of university student mental health and wellbeing and the challenges faced by current university students. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills; be empathetic and emotionally resilient; and be capable of positively interacting with a variety of people both in one-to-one and group settings.
Based on current staff need it is expected this will be a campus-based role to enable in-person supervision.
This role will be 1 day per week, expected to be split over 2 days.
