A well‑established specialist provision in South‑East London is looking to appoint an experienced Primary SEN Teacher for a full‑time role starting in September 2026. This long‑term position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact within a highly supportive and structured environment.
About the Setting
This specialist school provides a safe, calm and nurturing space for pupils with a range of complex needs, particularly autism and communication differences. The team is dedicated to helping each child develop essential life skills, emotional resilience and a strong sense of independence.

Staff collaborate closely with therapists, support staff and families to ensure every pupil receives personalised, high‑quality support. The curriculum is adapted to meet individual needs, blending core primary learning with communication development, sensory regulation and early Preparing for Adulthood skills.
What the Role Involves
As the Primary SEN Teacher, you will lead a small, well‑supported class and deliver a highly differentiated curriculum tailored to pupils' individual learning profiles. Your day‑to‑day responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging, structured lessons
- Supporting pupils with autism and complex SEN
- Working closely with teaching assistants and specialist staff
- Creating a predictable, emotionally safe classroom environment
- Promoting communication, independence and positive behaviour
- Using assessment to guide personalised learning pathways
This role is ideal for a teacher who is patient, adaptable and confident working within a specialist setting.
What We're Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential
- Strong SEN teaching experience (not suitable for ECTs)
- Experience supporting autistic pupils
- Skilled in adapting the primary curriculum
- Fluent English (mother tongue or equivalent)
- Confident working across small groups and varied needs
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Contract & Pay
- Long‑term role beginning September 2026
- Full‑time, Monday to Friday
- Weekly pay through Peak Education Recruitment
