Trust Doctor (eqv to ST3+) in Respiratory Medicine

Based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital

We are currently looking to recruit 3 enthusiastic Trust Doctor (eqv to ST3+) to a post in the Respiratory Department at St Bartholomew’s Hospital to start October 2026. We have Trust Doctor posts specialising in Asthma, Sleep & Ventilation and Cystic Fibrosis.

This post is ideal for an aspiring respiratory physician. It will provide the perfect platform from which to experience and display all the skills expected of a specialty trainee.

There will be opportunities to complete clinical audit and small scale research projects with a number of active clinical researchers within the department.

You will be taught how to perform bronchoscopies and would be expected to require limited supervision by the end of your post.

There will be opportunities to perform pleural procedures and access to pleural ultrasound experience.

You will be part of a large team of SpRs covering respiratory medicine with an active teaching programme and specialist Clinics and MDTs.

You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council and we encourage applications from trainees currently holding a respiratory training number. MRCP or equivalent is essential.

On discussion with the successful candidate, dependent upon the expertise and training needs there is scope for this post to involve the full range of Acute Respiratory, General Respiratory and Tertiary Respiratory work as well as Acute Medicine.

The post holder will join a full shift rota which is compliant with the New Contract, EWTD and the New Deal.

Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.

To regularly check Trust email account and respond in a timely manner to emails.

To adhere to all procedures and protocols and update them as and when necessary through a consultative process
