Vacancy – Fabricator
Our client is currently seeking an experienced Fabricator to join their successful engineering team. Successful candidate will be able to fabricate structures to high tolerances.
Main Duties
• Read and interpret in-house fabrication drawings, sketches, and technical plans to build and assemble metal components from start to finish.
• Carry out precision MIG and TIG welding on mild steel and stainless steel to tight tolerances, selecting the appropriate technique for each project requirement.
• Work strictly to high-quality standards, ensuring an understanding of the importance of EN1090, SSiP, and ISO9001 requirements throughout the fabrication process.
• Safely and effectively operate a wide range of power tools, hand tools, and mechanical equipment to assemble parts accurately.
• Perform precision finishing tasks, including fettling and polishing, to achieve various grains and mirror finishes.
• Independently assess each project to choose the correct fabrication procedures and techniques, as every build varies.
• Collaborate with the design and production teams to overcome challenges.
• Maintain accurate manufacturing records and documentation for all builds and modifications while managing time efficiently to meet deadlines.
• Strictly comply with all health and safety regulations, follow safety procedures, and keep a clean, safe working environment.
Person Specification
• A recognized, relevant apprenticeship and a relevant NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent qualification).

Technical Knowledge
Proven experience in both MIG and TIG welding, working with steel, fabricating directly from in-house drawings, and working to tight tolerances.

Standards Awareness
A strong understanding of structural steelwork regulations (EN1090), health and safety schemes (SSiP), and quality management systems (ISO9001).

Finishing Expertise
Demonstrated ability in high-quality metal finishing (fettling, polishing, grains, and mirror finishes).
• Desirable Certifications - Possession of one or more of the following is highly dvantageous, Coded welding certification (MIG and/or TIG), Valid CSCS/JIB/PMES card, IOSH Working Safely/CCNSG or Similar, First Aid / Mental Health First Aid certification, City & Guilds (C&G) Confined Space certification, Forklift licence and Driving Licence.
• Self-motivated team player with excellent communication skills.
• Able to work independently using your own initiative with minimal supervision.
• Strong mechanical mindset and attention to detail.
