Be a part of a passionate team providing a friendly speedy service to staff, Patients and Visitors to our staff restaurant.
We are looking for a supervisor who has great leadership skills and is a huge team player, great at motivating staff with a positive attitude, that has worked in customer service roles hospitality or retail who would like to make a real difference in our patients and staffs experience whilst in hospital.
Don’t worry if you have not worked in a hospital before - Full training and induction will be given, special diets, food allergens, food hygiene training will be provided. This role will oversee the New Patient trolley service on the wards as well as the great service we provide to our MKUH team in our staff Restaurant expansion.

The post holder will be required to perform a wide range of duties connected to the provision of catering services within the Trust.
The post holder will ensure a high standard of service delivery in relation to the Catering Restaurant service/ Patients food service and customer service.
Primary duties will include the day to day management and supervision of a team of catering staff; monitoring standards of hygiene and food safety within the area of responsibility, and liaising with the Catering Manager to ensure practices and procedures are compliant with food hygiene legislation.
The post holder will be required to work without supervision and use a high level of initiative in decision making.

1. Manage allocation of staff to areas/wards of responsibility by forward and daily planning of available staff.
2. Complete worked hours tracking or rota documentation to accurately reflect staff allocation.
3. To work with staff on wards to ensure that patients receive adequate nutrition.
4. Organise and chair team meetings with catering staff at regular intervals.
5. Respond to complaints from customers, ward staff and patients in the first instance, investigate and make recommendations to changes in practice to avoid recurrence.
6. Ensure new staff are correctly inducted and trained. Arrange and ensure refresher training for all staff.
7. Ensure staff follow procedures/work instructions appropriate to the area of work, ensuring that all schedules meet guidelines as stated in Assured Safe Catering and are compliant with food hygiene law.
8. Completion of all documentation relating to food consumption sheets, stock movement activities and monthly stock-take.
9. Supervise and monitor food service and catering staff in the restaurant at assigned service times.
10. General administration and documentation relating to the department’s functions, for example sickness absence, annual leave, training, quality control.
11. Monitor standards of cleaning and food safety e.g. temperature control, wastage and undertake corrective action.
12. Undertake preliminary disciplinary procedures up to formal verbal warning and complete relevant documentation for personnel files.
13. To ensure that all staff adhere to Trust and Departmental policies and procedures for example, dress code, uniform policy, sickness absence reporting.
14. Monitor the delivery service and report any discrepancies in time or adverse handling of equipment.
15. To comply with HACCP (Hazard Analysis) policy and adapt to any new regulations at all times.
16. Work on food ordering system to order required food items to support restaurant meals across all menu cycles.
17. To communicate with all service users, patients, visitors, and MKUH team members at all levels. Communicate well with own team members, conducting team briefs and one to one’s regularly. Liaise and communicate with external suppliers through our business partners.
