The Role

Do you have experience working within an accountancy firm and enjoy bringing structure to a busy workload? Are you someone who builds strong client relationships while keeping operations running smoothly behind the scenes?

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Administrator to join our friendly and growing accountancy and tax advisory firm in Harrow. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in staying organised and wants real ownership in their role.

As our new Accounting Administrator, you will play a huge part in keeping the practice running efficiently. You will work closely with the wider team, deal directly with clients and help improve the way we work as the business continues to grow. You will be the person who keeps deadlines on track, systems organised and communication flowing.

No two days will look the same, which makes this a great role for someone who enjoys being busy and likes having real responsibility.

This is a full-time, office-based Accounting Administrator position working Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 5:30pm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing compliance workflows and tracking deadlines
  • Chasing clients for outstanding information
  • Acting as the first point of contact for clients by phone and email
  • Handling Companies House filings and related updates
  • Completing AML checks and preparing engagement documentation
  • Raising invoices through Xero and managing fee collections
  • Filing accounts, CT600s, SA100s, and VAT registrations
  • Contacting HMRC regarding client matters and penalty waivers
  • Managing diaries and coordinating meetings
  • Keeping client records updated on TaxCalc and Engager
  • Supporting regulatory, GDPR, and office administration requirements
  • Helping improve systems and automated processes

The Person

  • Previous experience within an accountancy firm
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Confidence speaking with clients and handling queries
  • The ability to manage deadlines without constant supervision
  • Experience using software such as Xero, TaxCalc, or Engager.app
  • A proactive approach and willingness to improve processes
  • The right to work in the UK without sponsorship
